Yet to give it a name but here is the general idea......
My FMP is going to be based on sound-colour synesthesia. This is a condition where people see musical notes as colours.
I will select a song and break it down into its individual 8 bars (or possibly 16 bars depending on how long the piece is) and each 8 (or 16) bars will be represented in a small square visual and these will be placed alongside each other on my wall space.
Each note will consist of a different colour and as this note gets repeated throughout the song, as will the colour, at varying lengths and weights to represent that part of the music, this will alow the piece to evolve effectively. Each 8 (or 16) bars will be represented using a different media (pencil illustration, oil on canvas, screen print etc)
The idea is to bring the music to life so each 8 or 16 bars will also have a taste, smell and touch sense to it, as well as the visual. For example, each section of the music will be given a 'touch', a feeling sensation so say for example, a small box, big enough for your hand to fit in, will be attached to the wall and the feeling that that section of the song creates will be in that box (so perhaps velvet or sand etc). The music will also be playing to represent the 5th human sense of hearing.
This might be quite a challenge but i think if i can pull it off it will be really effective. I have attached below how i imagine it to look on my display area (this is very crude just to help you see it a little better than i have explained it).
I intend to make larger versions of my 2 favourite 8 or 16 bars and hand these along with an animation of my coloured musical score.
