FEED NOISE NIGHT DEC 17th!!!!!

Hi Sutton guys,

Its been really difficult to speak to everyone so i'm hoping you might get to read this if i don't see you.

The Matthew Boulton lot are really keen to get us involved in the FEED NOISE night in December, and need to know what we can help out with.

The night is at The Factory (the old Medicine
Bar, Custard Factory).  This is 3 floors, we are on the ground floor, fashion on the middle floor and Plus Festival on the top floor.

The Theme for the night is Hierarchy and the way the food chain works.  Its about mixing predators with their prey....If you look at Robs blog you will see an example of the type of work they are doing - please feel free to work on your own stuff and see Rob with about this.

If anyone DJ's or knows of a DJ that would like to play on the night, please speak to Kayne and let him know.  There is no budget for a DJ so it would be done as a freebie to help us out.

If you would like to submit a Quick Time movie to be played on the night, please see Mario with this by the 30th November.

Does anyone fancy doing the editorial with Gillian? Any budding writers out there?

If anyone would like to work on photography on the night and document the night, please see Kayne.

If you know of any places we may be able to advertise the night (shops etc), again, please see Kayne.

Either see Kayne or me and i can pass on anything if you want me to.

It should be a good night and will be good for us to get involved so shout up and lets have a really good night :0)

History of gaming

I have been looking at Hardstaff's history of gaming and have really taken inspiration from it.  I have produced a very basic version of it.  I really like the wire versions i created earlier in the project and definitely want to keep them in my final piece.  I have redrawn all of them in illustrator so they are a lot more crisp and clean.  I want to look at adding small 3d elements to it and need to work on my type and would also like to look at including some hand rendered sections.........

RECYCLING.....

Been having a think about the narrative for my reform piece and i'm going with recycling.  Both of the objects i have worked with are made from recyclable material.  i will explore the types of things they can be made into and create a really strong hybrid.

more messing....

Another attempt to try and get used to after effects....All a bit random and a rubbish ending!  Also, i have just noticed that when it is still before it starts, it looks a bit like a squooshed version of the nike tick?!?!? oops

AE REFORM

So, i finally got after effects working and had a little go at making an animation.  All simple scale and rotation.  I had a go at adding some music to it as well.  It doesn't really go with the animation but at least i now have a vague idea of how to do it.... also, its MASSIVELY RUBBISH!!!
what can you expect for my first attempt? :0)

REFORMiNg....

I have been playing around with the shapes in cinema 4d and trying to get used to creating in there.  Here are some hybrids i have come up with. They are all the same shape but i have been looking at colours etc......

4D fiasco's!

Here is my attempt at creating my chair in cinema 4d.....its fine from this angle until you rotate it round....back to work methinks.....

rEfOrMiNg....

Starting to look a little more abstract now.  I have incorporated some texture into it using foil.  I chose foil simply because it represents the metal of the tap.  i think it looks really effective and is maybe worth considering using it in the final piece? These next pieces are more experiments, still incorporating the foil......

ReFoRmInG....

So, after playing around a bit with general shapes, i went back to the original drawings of our shapes and looked at how to play around with them a little bit more......I like the line running through this piece and that there are just subtle changes - not enough to make it a hybrid i don't think but enough to get me started on thinking about how to use the two images.
I like the lines running through this design.  I tried to go with the line of what i presume is the sink and offset it with the diagonal running through it.  aS with above, experimental but not a hybrid.

REFORM MORE ....

I like the symmetrical images, i can imagine this sort of shape being morphed into a motion graphic.  I like the third image you can see, it still has that tap image and its the chair is replacing the water.....not sure this is 'hybrid' enough though.  Still like it though :0)

REFORM MORE ....

It was interesting combining the tap and the chair.  At first, i wasn't sure how the straight edges of the tap and the curved edges of the chair would work but they did and when made to a block of colour, you would never know what the two shapes were.

These are a few of my initial ideas......

REFORM....

Natasha sent some of her hybrid ideas....it was interesting to see we had produced similar things......

REFORM....

Some more ideas......

Monday, October 12, 2009

I have started to combine my chair with Natasha's tap.

It is quite difficult as the shapes are very different but i have tried to create something interesting and different.

These are my first couple of sketches....watch this space for more :0)

REFORM

So, after playing around with the Buddah mask. i have established its not great.  Not an amazing shape and i don't think i can do mush with it.

So, i have settled on my dining tables chairs.  They have a really interesting shape and i think it will be really fun to manipulate them and they would work well with any other shapes that people have.

Here are my 3 sketches from 3 different angles.

view from the side back

looking from the side, you can see the bumps of the seat sticking out and how the proportions work

Reform

This is the object/shape i am considering using for the Reform brief.  It has loads of detail and interesting shapes from the hair section, all bumpy and rippling to the sleek and long nose.

I think it could make for a really interesting contribution to a final piece with my partner, whoever that may be???
Hey

Welcome to my blog....lets hope this works :0)

First day at FEED was wicked, everyone felt motivated and ready to get stuck in, was a great atmosphere and the MBC peeps are really nice.

Roll on next Thursday
